Kagawa Nutrition UniversityDepartment of Food Culture and NutritionThis department aims to train individuals to contribute to the creative development of culinary culture on the basis of food, nutrition and health sciences. There have been major changes in eating habits in recent years, accompanied by diversification, greater sophistication and internationalization in the food industry. This development has occurred hand in hand with an expansion in work fields relating to information on food and the culture of food in general. There is more demand now for food experts capable of expressing themselves confidently and creatively in such fields as menu development, as food coordinators, and in other food-related field including food services, sales and retail, and publishers and media. Structure of the CurriculumThis course consists of a curriculum centered on two groups of subjects, one consisting of introductory courses that constitute the foundation of nutrition and the other consisting of seven specialized areas. In addition, there is a group of liberal arts subjects. Students undertaking this course must complete the following credit requirements for graduation: To obtain a Food Specialist qualification, 36 elective credits are required. |
